How to install modules in DotNetNuke

Installing a module using a ZIP file

Installing modules in DotNetNuke is pretty straightforward, in most cases. You need to be a SUPERUSER in order to install modules, skins and other extensions in DNN. The most common superuser is HOST, though there may be others on your website.

Installing modules in DNN is done through the HOST/Extensions page, unless you are running a version of DotNetNuke prior to V5, in which case modules are installed through the HOST/Module Definitions page.

Once you visit the Extensions page (make sure you are in EDIT mode) you should see the Actions menu next to the title Extensions (depending on your module container in use, generally the actions menu will be to the left of the module title).

From the actions menu choose the Install Extension Wizard, this wizard will walk you through the process of uploading your module. You should upload the ZIP file that you received when you purchased/downloaded your new module.

Installing a Module without a ZIP file

If you don't have a ZIP file to upload for your module perhaps you are installing a custom module that you have developed. Information on how to install a module by creating a module definition should be added below.
